March

DSME submitted the feasibility study report, and GOSO decided to build a ship repair yard in Duqm.

June

GOSO & DSME entered into the "Services Agreement of Initial Phase" for the establishment of the business plan, preparation for operation, and basic design for the ship repair yard.

July

GOSO & DSME signed the "Heads of Agreement" stating that GOSO will agree to cooperate with DSME for the establishment of the corporate entity and operation of the ship repair yard.

May

Oman Drydock Company (ODC), a state-owned entity by the GOSO was registered to the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

August

DSME submitted the business plan to GOSO.

September

ODC was established. DSME signed an agreement with GOSO to operate and manage (O&M) the facility for an initial period of 10 years, which is extendable by a similar period.

January

First Board of Directors (BOD) meeting was held.

May

Floated international tenders for the construction of the ODC shipyard.

February

Daewoo Engineering & Contracting in partnership with Galfar Engineering & Contracting were awarded the contract related to the construction of drydock at Al Duqm Port in the Al Wusta region.

March

First Annual General Meeting was held.

Issued Engineer's Order to commence (EOC).

Signing of the Ship Yard Construction Contract.

Commencement of the construction of the ship repair yard.

Announced 1st open recruitment for ODC manager, staff and engineer positions in the local newspapers.

April

Ministry of Finance and Ministry of National Economy approved the ODC Superstructure Budget.

June

A total of 11 Superstructure Contracts was signed by the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

September

New ODC Logo was registered at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (No.56141).

Commenced operation of regular bus service between Muscat and Duqm for ODC employees and guests.

May

First batch of Omani engineers and workers were sent to the Vocational Training Center to acquire practical training of engineering and field work skills.

June

Participated in the Posidonia Exhibition in Greece for promotion of ODC.

August

Production Department moved to Duqm Ship Yard to prepare for the in-house fabrication and soft operation.

December

Original scope of Civil Infrastructure and Building works was completed, and integrated commissioning and tentative Hand-Over were carried out by MOTC and ODC.

Administration Department moved to the Main Office in Duqm Ship Yard, and ODC Guest House in Muscat opened.

Started In-House Fabrication of working tower, service tower, over bridge, welding box, etc.

Soft Operation commenced with repair of a Split Hopper Barge from Jan Denul (Belgian Company).
Participated in the Sea Asia Exhibition in Singapore for promotion of ODC.

Participated in the Nor-Shipping Exhibition in Norway for promotion of ODC.

July

Moved Muscat Office from Al Khuwair to Al Azaiba.
Final hand-over of Infrastructure and Superstructure was executed between MOTC and ODC.

Participated in the Inmex 2011 Exhibition in India, for promotion of ODC.

October

Participated in the Kormarine 2011 Exhibition in Korea, for promotion of ODC.

December

Successfully accomplished re-delivery of 43 vessels during the Soft Operation period since April, 2011.

Participated in SEA JAPAN 2012, International Maritime Exhibition and Conference in Japan for promotion of ODC.
Participated in Oman Economic Forum 2012, Highlighting the investment opportunities in the Duqm project and the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), industrial projects and industrial zones.
ODC has been highlights its career opportunities, with a particular focus on Omanisation, at JOBEX 2012.
